What you get for each business

Each business is one row. The first columns come from its Maps listing, and the rest from its own website, read in the same run.

ColumnWhere it comes from
Business Name, CategoryThe Maps listing
Rating, Review CountThe Maps listing, saved as numbers you can sort
Address, Operating Hours, Phone, WebsiteThe business's details on Maps
Map URLThe link to the business on Maps
EmailsThe business's home page and one contact page
Website phones, FaxesThe phone numbers on the same two pages, and the ones labelled fax
LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook and other networksLinks on the business's website, one column per network
Business NameRatingReview CountPhoneWebsiteEmails

Wicker Park Fitness4.6188(312) 555-0163wickerfit.example[email protected]
South Loop Boxing Gym4.996(312) 555-0129southloopboxing.exampleempty
Sample data. Three gyms from one search, after download, with a few of the columns. Every value is invented.

Not every business publishes an email, so some Emails cells stay empty, and the rest of the row is kept. Businesses that share one website, such as a chain's locations, all get that website's details. How the emails are found explains both.

Your first list in four steps

  1. Step 1: Add the extension

Install Maps Scraper Pro from the Chrome Web Store, then click its icon to open the side panel. There's nothing to sign up for and no settings to change first.

  2. Step 2: Ask for the businesses

Choose the Chat tab and type the kind of business and the place, such as "Find 100 gyms in Chicago". You can name a city, a neighborhood or "near me"; getting Maps leads with AI compares this with ChatGPT and n8n.

  3. Step 3: Pick how many and start

The first time, a card asks how many businesses you want: 20, 50, 100, 200 or any number up to 1,000. Click Start, and a Maps tab opens while the list fills in.

    • The card's own guide: 20 take under a minute, 200 about five minutes.
    • Later searches use the same number unless your request names one.
  4. Step 4: Download the list

When it's done, click Excel, CSV or JSON in chat. The list is also saved in History, where you can open it on the results page and download it again.

Using a Maps scraper extension goes through the first run screen by screen, and asking in chat shows what else you can type.

How many you can collect, and how long it takes

There's no limit on leads per day or per month, apart from chat's daily message limit. The real limit is time, because the extension collects in your browser, one business after another.

WayHow manyGood for
Chat50 by default, up to 1,000 a request, by searching the area around the placeA list from a sentence you type
The side panel's Maps tabThe search on screen, to the end of its list, which is about 120 businesses at mostA search you've already run on Maps
BulkEvery search in a list of Maps links, each to the end of its listMany towns or many kinds of business in one run

Each business is opened on Maps in turn, and its website is read alongside, four websites at a time, so reading emails adds little. Past one search, each further area search starts with a pause of a few seconds.

A large request can take a while, so leave it running in its tab. If you close the side panel during a chat run, what it found so far is kept in History.

For a whole city, getting every business in a city compares chat's area search with one search per zip code in Bulk.

What free means here

Maps Scraper Pro is free, with every feature included. Here's what that covers, and what it doesn't.

  • No account or sign-up. The first time you use chat, the extension connects to our servers on its own, using your Chrome profile's email if there is one.
  • No plan, credits or charge per lead, row or download.
  • Chat has a daily message limit. When you reach it, chat says "You've reached today's chat limit. Try again tomorrow.", and the Maps tab and Bulk keep working.
  • Your lists stay in your browser. History keeps your 500 most recent lists, and none of them are uploaded.
  • The extension sends usage analytics, such as how many businesses a search found, with your Chrome profile's email, but never the businesses themselves. The chat page lists what's sent to our servers, and our privacy policy covers the rest.

Keep the leads worth contacting

With the list open on the results page, tell chat which rows to keep. The other rows are hidden, not deleted, and a download has only what the page shows.

You wantType this in chat
Businesses you can emailonly rows where Emails is filled
Businesses you can callonly rows where Phone is filled
Businesses with no website, for a web design pitchonly rows where Website is empty
Well-rated businesses onlyonly rating 4 or more
A file with fewer columnsonly name, phone, email and website

To leave out every business with no phone, email or website as you collect, tick Skip businesses you can't reach in Settings → Results. It applies to the lists you collect after you tick it.

Sorting by rating and reviews covers putting the best-rated or best-known businesses first.

Other free ways to get leads, and their catch

Maps Scraper Pro isn't the only free route to local leads. Each of these costs you something else instead: time, setup, or a limit on the free part.

WayWhat's freeThe catch
Copying from Maps by handEverythingOne business at a time, and each website opened by hand for its email
Instant Data ScraperThe extension, as its listing saysIt copies the list a page shows, so it doesn't read each business's website for emails
OutscraperThe first 500 businesses each month, by its pricing pageAn account to create, and a charge per 1,000 businesses after that
Apify$5 of usage a month, with no card needed, by its pricing pageWhat that buys depends on the scraper you run, which you set up on its platform
Open-source scriptsThe codeYou install and run it yourself, and fix it when Maps changes
Free limits from each tool's own pages, read on October 28, 2026.

Instant Data Scraper on Maps shows that tool step by step. The free limits come from Outscraper's pricing page and Apify's pricing page.

Free Maps scrapers compared sets the tools side by side.

What to do with the list next

Use the list for the job you collected it for. Finding local business leads covers working down a call list in your own area, lead lists for clients covers delivering one trade, city by city, and starting a lead generation business covers selling the lists themselves.

Run the same search again next month to pick up businesses that opened since. Each run is a new list in History, so you can compare the two.

Before you email or call the businesses, check the rules where you and they are. Is it legal? explains what to look for.

Questions people ask

Can you scrape Maps for free?

Yes, with a free extension such as Maps Scraper Pro, which collects a search's businesses in your browser. Whether you may use the data depends on the rules where you are, and is it legal? covers them.

How do I get business leads for free?

Search Maps for the kind of business you sell to, in your town, and collect the list with Maps Scraper Pro. Each business comes with its phone, website and the emails on its website, at no cost.

Is there a free data scraper available?

Yes, several. Maps Scraper Pro is free and made for Maps, and general page copiers such as Instant Data Scraper are free too, but they don't read each business's website.

Do I need an account or an API key?

No. Install the extension and start. The first time you use chat, it connects to our servers on its own.

Is there a limit on how many leads I can collect?

One chat request takes up to 1,000 businesses, and chat has a daily message limit. The Maps tab and Bulk have no limit beyond the time each search takes; the limits page lists every cap with its number.

What are the best tools for scraping leads?

It depends on the job: a free extension for lists you collect yourself, or a service with an API when you need data on a schedule. Free Maps scrapers compared sets the options side by side.
